Istom mišlju vode se i glavni muški likovi filma Y tu mamá también, jer su pronašli ono do čega im je stalo kao tinejdžerima: devojke, seks i prijateljstvo. I upravo će ih to povesti na put sa deset godina starijom Luisom Cortés, čiji se brak konačno raspao i koja želi da proživi ono što nije proživela u ranim dvadesetim.

Međutim, na tom putovanju prijateljstvo dvojice glavnih junaka biće stavljeno na test upravo zbog seksa i devojaka.

Iako nam se čini da je ovo erotski film o dvojici napaljenih tinejdžera i neostvarenoj ženi, na kraju zapravo shvatamo da je ovo film o prolaznosti svega: prijateljstva, veza, ljubavi i života. O tome da ono što funkcioniše danas već sutra lako može postati nepostojeće i zaboravljeno.
