Znamo da su nemački producenti napravili ozbiljan posao (da ne kažem da su podigli na nivo industrije) od eksploatacije reditelja muslimanske veroispovesti (pre svega mislim na turske i iranske reditelje)… i u ovom slučaju posao odrađuju standardno na temu muslimanske zajednice ali pomoću armenijske rediteljke sa karijerom u Nemačkoj.

Naravno, ovo je još jedan u nizu od stotine filmova koji govori o rigidnom položaju pojedinca muslimanske veroispovesti u savremenom nemačkom društvu. Ovaj film nije poseban ni po čemu, pitak je, školski lepo odrađen – što bi se reklo, sve po propisima.

Ono što drži pažnju je odlično napisan i izveden lik glavne junakinje, i to je nešto što će vam, kako film odmiče, prirasti za srce, uz iščekivanje da li će junakinja ostati verna sebi ili pokleknuti pod pritiskom svoje porodice i okoline… jer u nekim zajednicama, himen, koji zapravo nema neku biološku vrednost, itekako ima kulturno-socijalnu vrednost u određenim društvima.

We know that German producers have done a serious job (elevated it to an industry level) by exploiting directors of Muslim faith (primarily referring to Turkish and Iranian directors)… and in this case, the job is done in the usual manner on the subject of the Muslim community but through an Armenian director with a career in Germany.

Of course, this is yet another film among hundreds that addresses the rigid position of an individual of Muslim faith in modern German society. This film is not special in any way; it’s pleasant to watch, textbook well-executed.

What holds your attention is the excellently written and performed character of the main heroine, and as the film progresses, it’s something that will grow on you. You will be left wondering whether the heroine will stay true to herself or succumb to the pressure of her family and surroundings… because in some communities, the hymen, which biologically holds no significance, has a significant cultural and social value in certain societies.
