78 dana traženja NATO lokatora, puberteta i klinačkih gluposti dok otac brani otadžbinu.
„78 days of searching for NATO locators, puberty, and childish mischief while the father defends the homeland.“
A family film that actually materializes memories of the NATO bombing through footage from Hi8 cameras. Although the bombing is something ugly, the film reminds us of a beautiful time of life that we lived through during a not-so-beautiful period at the end of the 20th century. The film isn’t perfect (assuming a perfect film even exists), but it is charming and easy to watch, bringing smiles to faces in the cinema or in front of small screens.
Now, a few interesting facts.
The director skillfully utilized the motifs of the famous video report KLINTON ŠUNTAVILO (Clinton’s fatuousness)
The film was shot in Vrnjačka Banja and its surroundings, where the youngest cast members are from. In one part of the film, Kraljevo Television is mentioned, so a special salute from my local patriotic spirit to the director Emilija Gašić! I also consider this to be a Kraljevo film because two actresses, Tamara Gajović and Milica Gicić, are from Kraljevo. On the other hand, during the bombing, Vrnjačka Banja belonged to the Kraljevo municipality and had KV license plates, which means that if I ever become president of this country, I will return VB under KV’s jurisdiction…
I would especially like to highlight the excellent performance of the youngest actress, Viktorija Vasiljević, who carried a good part of the film, her main character sparking laughter among the audience. Viktorija and all the kids in the film came from the Little Prince acting studio, led by casting director Kristina Vuletić. Now, since I was called Zoogle in high school, I used my Google magic abilities and stumbled upon an interesting fact: Kristina earned her PhD at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, and her thesis focuses on the „acting and pedagogical approach to working with children in feature films, in all phases of the process—from casting to the final shots of the film.“ Anyone interested in how the choice of children and their preparation went can read her doctoral thesis at this link. The topic of the pedagogical approach and preparing children for acting is underexplored worldwide, but in her work, Kristina clarifies the challenges she faced and how she resolved them. Thus, she has proven that she is not just a casting director for children, but a casting doctor.
